One of the fondest memories of Christmas was the tradition that A. Z. Matthews handed down to his clan; and the reading of the Family Christmas Poem began.
A.Z. Matthews was my Great Grandfather and he started a tradition in our family that actually lives on today.
He wrote a Christmas Poem that chronicles the events of the year for our family, and then it is read during a "program" where all the kids sing, and someone reads the Christmas Story from the Bible, and everyone must play some part, whether in a skit or closing prayer, everyone is involved.
He started this tradition back in 1917, and I am in the process of adding all of those poems to this blog before Christmas. I even have some pictures...and audio that I hope to add as well.
So, enjoy and leave a comment if you see something that you like...or that makes you think more about Christmas.
