History has recorded another year;
The war is over and Christmas is here.
The Christmas toys, mostly wood and cotton;
The song of peace almost forgotten.
Who in this world could happier be;
Than the Matthews clan and their family tree.
Where the Spirit of Christ is not forgotten;
Tho the trinkets are wood and the toys are cotton.
The traditional tree still stands in the house;
We sing the same songs tho the children are grown.
Three are married and unmarried three;
There's still hope for increase to the family tree.
