We were looking with joy to this Christmas Eve;
But the angels brought a gift they could not leave.
Twelve short days our hearts were gladdened;
Dale was taken and our hearts were saddened.
While sorrow is mixed with our Christmas joys;
The war is raging and we have less toys.
We must join with the Angels that sang of the Birth;
Of one who came to bring peace on earth.
